Millstreet has most definitely got Talent
SOME of Millstreet’s brightest young camogie prospects swapped the on field hustle and bustle for the bright lights at the Wallis Arms Hotel last Friday night – scooping the 2018 Millstreet’s Got Talent crown in the process.
Indeed, the quartet of musicians proved they possess more than one string to their bow, as a packed auditorium found out when their captivating performance thrilled patrons at the Millstreet Community Council promoted event.
Singers and musicians featuring solo, duo, trio and quartets added to the variety of a diverse field, making for a hugely entertaining and compelling night of wonderful entertainment.
The overall honour belonged to the group drawn from Rathcoole and Dromtariffe of Anna Buckley, Marie O’Neill, Darragh Twomey and Leah Murphy performing under the Millstreet camogie banner.
Their musical selection, which included slides and reels to ‘ The Bold Thady Quill’ and a mix of Justin Bieber’s ‘Despacito’, went down a treat with the packed audience – ensuring they collected the top prize of €500.
Runner up spot went to Edel O’Keeffe of Millstreet AC, with Sarah Dennehy representing Millstreet camogie finishing in third place.
Millstreet Community Council chairman Noel Buckley expressed delight at the response, with the numbers entered exceeding expectation in the preliminary rounds.
“There’s a huge wealth of talent in Millstreet and the wider Duhallow catchment area, that was confirmed on brilliant performances in the earlier rounds and a quality line up helped generate a wonderful atmosphere in the final,” he said.
The finalists included Gerard O’ Han lon( Coleman’ s Garage ); Mike Doyle, Conor Crowley and Denis McSweeney (Dennehy Transport); Laura Dunlea and Patrick O’ Flynn( McCarthy’ s Bar); Emily O’Connell (Bush Bar), Conor, Donal and James Line han( Line han’ s Garage ); De clan He a ly( Car riga ni ma Pub); Muireann Buckley (Noel C Dug gan ): Daniel (Carriganima Pub ); Sinead Guiney (Millstreet Coursing) and Niamh Sheahan (Millstreet Community Council).
Adjudicators Martina Ring, Heather Healy and Noel O’Connor congratulated organisers and participants for a terrific night’s entertainment.
