COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Buttevant community council continues to be to the forefront regarding community needs and necessities for the local inhabitants. Even during the seasonal period the community council officers were in regular contact with the relevant authorities regarding what is available to and for for the benefit of the local community and their needs.

The community council is currently involved in the development of a proposed riverside walk along the Awbeg river which flows adjacent to the town. This development is now under threat following the lodging of an objection to the proposed development by just one person. The irony of this objection is that the objector is not even a native of the locality.

The community council is continuously being criticised by the usual “hurlers-on-the-ditch” who would be better getting involved in local community affairs rather than critise those who give of their time voluntarilyand without benefit for the communities betterment.
