Kilshanning GAA celebrating success
KILSHANNING GAA Club celebrated the many successes on the field over the past year with a special victory social at Springfort Hall Hotel where several firsts for the club were lauded by Chairman Ger O’ Donovan. “We congratulate our U21B Football team who won the County Championship and our U21 B Hurling team who are also county and Avondhu champions. We also had success at minor level where we won the County League title at Premier 2A grade while at adult level we won the Avondhu Division 3 Football League sponsored by Cavanagh’s of Fermoy,” Ger said.
Ger went on to congratulate the Kilshanning Ladies Football Club on their success in 2017 and he highlighted the fact that the club will be 21-years-old this year.
“After 10 years out of Junior they returned in 2016, and last year won the County Junior title at 13-a-side and are hoping to move up the grades in the coming years,” he added.
“Tonight we celebrate the success of our Scór Instrumental Group, they are to date Avondhu, Cork, and Munster champions. On February 17 (Saturday) they will compete in the All Ireland Final in Sligo,” Ger said. He also paid tribute to their teacher Alan Finn and to Irish and Cultural Officer Michael O’Sullivan and his family for promoting Scór in the club over the years.
“In conclusion, I thank Cavanagh’s (Main Ford Dealers) for their generous sponsorship of the leagues in Avondhu. As league winners it gives us a fundraising opportunity to part take in the Cavanagh’s draw which takes place in April with a first prize of a Ford Fiesta,” Ger added.
