TAI CHI AND MANTRA MEDITATION

It has long been understood, even since ancient times, that we accumulate stress and anxiety in both mind and body. Over time both mind and body become reservoirs for stress and anxiety. We need to develop techniques for cleansing mind and body of these toxic elements.

This Spring, New Leaf is delighted to present a series of classes which combine the ancient disciplines of Ta’i Chi and Mantra Meditation.

There is a growing body of modern scientific evidence which points to the effectiveness of these disciplines, especially when they are combined in a holistic approach to well-being: Mind and Body are not two separate entities, and cannot be separated. That is why the course employs Ta’i Chi to reduce stress in the body, and Mantra Meditation to eliminate anxiety from the mind.

Shay Kearney has worked in the area of health promotion for almost 20 years and much of her work centres around dispelling the mythology about food and what is considered to be a healthy diet.

“As a nutrition therapist each individual is treated as just that – no two people are the same and what may be classified as healthy food for many may be detrimental to the health of some,” she said.

Shay said the role of the nutrition therapist is to identify nutritional shortfalls potentially leading to disease and this is achieved through consultation and, when necessary, specific biochemical tests.

“I continue to be amazed by the human body’s capacity to heal itself, given the right tools. Sometimes by making relatively small adjustments to the diet and lifestyle many people have experienced profound benefits,” she said.

She has worked with clients suffering with a range of complaints including Fibromyalgia, IBS, IBD, Arthritis, food intolerances, Asthma, Eczema, low immunity, cancer and obesity.

Shay is now offering DNA testing to generate unique dietary plans for individuals.
