Stage is set for 10th annual Kanturk Arts Festival

THE 10th annual Kanturk Arts Festival kicks off with its official opening by much-loved radio personality 103fm’s Patricia Messenger at O’Callaghan’s Showrooms, Freemount Road on Thursday, March 15 at 7.30pm.

And Kanturk Arts Festival is delighted to announce that the superb guitar group, Fandango Duo, will be providing the music on the night.

This duo, consisting of vastly experienced musicians David Keating and Colin McClean, are famed for bringing fun, energetic and soulful music to the concert platform. Whether it be the relentlessly rhythmic tangos of Astor Piazzolla, the fiery Spanish dances of de Falla, or the fascinating chord combinations and pop sensibilities of the Beatles, Fandango Duo makes every live performance a memorable event.

Kanturk Arts Festival has pulled off a major coup in getting such a fabulous group to play on the opening night, and the wonderful setting of the showroom in O’Callaghan’s Showrooms will make the occasion even more special.

The festival’s Invited Artists Exhibition will also be launched on the night. This will feature works by North Cork artists Mary G Sheehan, Viv Buckley and Deborah O’Keeffe.

The winners of the Schools Art Competition, sponsored by Kanturk Credit Union, will also be presented with their awards on the night.

There will be a cheese and wine reception as part of the official opening and every-one is welcome to attend this free event.

The 10th annual Kanturk Arts Festival runs from Thursday, March 15 to Monday, March 19. The festival brochure will be available throughout the Duhallow region shortly.
