Championship draws completed
AVONDHU GAA Board held their meeting in Mallow GAA Sports Complex on Wednesday. There was a smaller than usual attendance present where the board made draws for the 2018 championship, elected members to the CCCC and dealt with some transfers.
There were two changes to the Under 21 gradings : Charleville are now in the Under 21 BFC, while Killavullen will compete in the Under 21 C FC.
Liam Hanley (Doneraile) Tom Barrett (Castletownroche) John Twomey (Kilworth) and John O’Donnell were elected onto the CCCC without a vote.
The transfer of Kealan Condon from Kilworth to Araglin was sanctioned. The transfer of Sean O’Connor (Fermoy) to Grange will have to be deferred to May (96 weeks).
There was a transfer from Garry Sweeney (Doneraile) to Mallow that was referred to the County Board.
There was a discussion on the shortage of referees in the division. Seven clubs Araglin, Ballyclough, Doneraile, Grange, Killavullen, Kildorrery and Milford have no referee. These seven clubs will now have to pay €30 per league game whether at home or away in hurling and football and it applies to all three Divisions 1, 2 & 3 Hurling and Football.
