Dromtarriffe pull off a thrilling victory over Knocknagree in Ducon

-

DROMTARIFFE pulled off a thrilling victory over Knocknagree in a cracking Ducon Cup tussle played at a chilly Rathcoole on Sunday.

Reacting to a precarious situation, Dromtariffe found themselves two points adrift deep into injury time. Indeed, their response was doggedly defiant on mounting a last ditch effort, Conor O’Callaghan’s inviting free fell into the path of Adam Buckley to net.

The outcome was always likely to be decided on the tightest of margins, territory that Dromtariffe exploited against a Knocknagree outfit well up for the challenge. A dream start by the visitors saw Knocknagree power ahead from a Paul O’Connor goal.

The Dromtariffe response was calm and effective, encouraged by the play of Buckley and Michael Healy at midfield with Killian and Seamus O’Sullivan posting tasty points to assume a 0-10 to 1-3 advantage at the break.

Resuming with a arctic breeze at their back, Knocknagree took a grip on the proceedings, rewarded on goals from Paul and David O’Connor. Dromtariffe showed no signs of panic and those faithful that remained to the last piece of action saw Buckley clinch the match-winner.
