Cream rises to the top at Banteer camogie talent final
THE audience at the Glen Theatre on last Friday night was treated to a feast of great music as groups and individuals battled it out in the Banteer Camogie Club Talent Show Final.
With two semi finals under their belts, ten acts made it to the grand finale and after much deliberating the judges awarded the top accolade to Meadbh Walsh from Meelin.
Local group Buttons and Strings came in a close second, with Sean Nós dancer Seán O’Keeffe from Gneeveguilla awarded third prize.
Banteer Camogie Club Chairperson Donncha Foley thanked all those who took part and praised their exceptional talent. “We had two fantastic semi finals with a really high standard on both nights, and it was not an easy job for our judging panel selecting our winners tonight,” Donncha said.
“I thank all the parents for their help, the Glen Theatre for such a fantastic venue, our organising committee, those who sponsored adverts, our judges, Seamus our MC and our Club members” Donncha added.
The Camogie Club which was established in 2007 by Angela Murphy proved to be hugely popular from the beginning with 68 girls registered in the first year.
This vibrant Club boasted over 100 players in the 2017 season and fielded teams from U10 to Minor and Junior A.
The first Adult Team lined out in 2013 and surpassed all expectations by reaching the League County Final. 2014 saw this team win the Junior C League and Championship, in 2015 they scooped the Junior B Championship, and in 2016 the Junior A League.
Training takes place on Tuesday evenings for all from U6 right through to U18.
