MOTHER Nature through her daughter, ‘Storm Emma’, put paid to any football activity this week. Macroom had its share of the harsh weather but we escaped relatively speaking.

Thankfully the worst is over and all groups are looking forward to playing football again. The silver lining is that many of our younger members experience­d the thrill and joy of playing in the abundant snow, often sledding and tobogganin­g for the first time.

The big news of the week is that the U-12s are invited to Croke Park on Thursday, April 5, for an activity day. A panel of 24 players, three mentors and a young referee will travel. Manager Concubhar Murray is delighted with the news. The group will go by bus.
