Scoil Aonghusa thrilled with deluge of book donations

-

THE staff and pupils of Scoil Aonghusa would like to give heartfelt thanks to the people of Mallow and surrounding areas who have donated hundreds of children’s books to the school over the past three months.

Over €5 million has been spent by the Department of Education on this new state of the art school building and, thanks to the people of Mallow, the school now has a wonderful stock of books.

The school library will be a room for reading, learning and thinking. It will be central to the school, it will support and develop the children’s literacy skills and will provide them with life long learning skills. The library will encourage the children to be curious, adventurous and have a thirst for knowledge.

Thanks also to the following businesses who took book donations for the school: The Arches, The HiB Fitness Gym, The Speech Centre, Mallow Primary Healthcare, Joyce’s Pharmacy and Mallow Library.

Children’s author Paula Fox once said ‘when you put a book in a child’s hand you are bringing that child news of infinitely varied nature of life. You are an awakener’.
