Choral society off to Chicago

DUHALLOW Choral Society will travel once again to the City of Chicago to celebrate St Patrick’s week.

The group are hosted by Teresa Daly, Chicago Rose of Tralee Centre and Ireland Network ‘IN CHICAGO’.

The choir have been welcomed by Ireland’s Consulate General to Chicago, Brian O’Brian, who will attend their gala concert at St Patricks Cathedral (Old St Pat’s Church) on Wednesday 14th March.

The group will also be honoured with a special meeting with the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, at the City Hall on Monday 12th March. The group will also perform at St Xaviour University.

Along many short performanc­es, including visits to Emanon Vaughan’s pub, formally from Newmarket, the group will celebrate St Patrick’s Day and parade with the Irish in the South Side of Chicago.

Having sung their way around the city of Chicago the choir will complete their tour by travelling to Beloit Wisconsin for a tour and performanc­e at Kerry global research and innovation centre guests of the Management and Teresa Daly who works there.

Duhallow Choral Society are most grateful to Cork County Council, North Cork Municipal District and IRD Duhallow for producing a magnificen­t brochure showcasing Duhallow and the Choral Society, all the many Business and friends of the Choir who generously supported the tour in planning over the past six months. The Choir are proud and delighted represent the people of North Cork and Duhallow with pride and distinctio­n.
