MALLOW Tidy Town’s hard working committee is appealing to the Mallow populace to “come out on Good Friday morning to showcase the energy and dedication of our local community”. News of the ‘Get Fitter – Pick Litter’ event was launched by Mallow’s own Wayne O’Donnell from ‘Operation Transformation’, who says he is delighted to be involved and looks forward to participating on what promises to be a fun and very worthwhile initiative. The Event will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Good Friday, with participants meeting at Mallow Castle before setting off on designated routes. Equipment such as bags, Hi-Viz vests, gloves and pickers will be available and, upon return, participants will be provided with some refreshments and entertainment.

Everyone is invited to play their part, including businesses, schools, sporting organisations and voluntary groups. If you cannot participate directly on the day yourself, or if your organisation cannot organise a team, then please help us by spreading the word amongst your friends, work colleagues, students, customers and members, who may be able to attend. In order to fully co-ordinate this monster event we ask that people would register their personal interest or their groups interest by e-mailing - getfitterpicklittermallow@gmail.com or phoning us at 022-22658. The initiative, headed by Mallow Tidy Towns, is sponsored by the Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authority and is supported by Cork County Council and Mallow Development Partnership.

Mallow Tidy Towns are grateful for the support of our elected representatives from the Mallow/ Kanturk Municipal district, Cork County Council, in particular Alex Grassick and Mary Hayes.
