Charleville and Mallow play out absorbing draw

-

Charleville 2-4 Mallow 1-7

CHARLEVILLE and Mallow played out an entertaining game at Mallow on Wednesday night.

Heavy rain and snow during the game made for slippy conditions. Mallow aided by the strong breeze started well. Michael O’Rourke kicked some good points. They had their goal in the ninth minute when Eoin Murphy put Mark Kenny through who netted.

Aaron O’Connor pointed for Charleville. Good play for Mallow by Mark Kenny led to a well taken Kevin McCarthy point. Charleville had their first goal in the 17th minute when Danny O’Flynn worked well with Mark Kavanagh who goaled 1-3 to 1-1.

John McGuinness soloed through from midfield and added a Mallow point. Both sides were off target. Mallow had a late pointed free by Michael O’Rourke that gave them an interval lead 1-5 to 1-1.

Sean Kelly stretched Mallow’s lead on the restart. Charleville had a 39th minute goal by Cian Collins after a long range free by Jack O’Callaghan 1-6 to 2-1. O’Callaghan added a pointed free in the 47th minute 1-6 to 2-2.
