Sharper St Peters possess goal power

-

St. Peters 4-11 Croke Rovers 1-10

ST Peters carried too much scoring power for Croke Rovers in the Duhallow U-21 ‘C’ FC Round 2 played in Rockchapel on Saturday.

All through the hour, a calm and crisp methodology surfaced to the winners game and they had the issue in safe keeping on leading by 12 points at the interval. Right from the start, the Rockchapel and Freemount combination set about their business with a greater work ethic and attitude, their cause boosted with a goal from Michael McAulliffe and a succession of points.

Croke Rovers rarely threatened going forward in the first half, unable to convert scoring chances. At the opposite end, St Peters were operating on a far higher level with solid performances throughout the team and a goal from Eoin Collins helped build up a 2-8 to 0-2 grip at half time.

Upon the resumption St Peters continued to dominate and ruthlessly converted two more goals by Dean and Patrick Collins In fairness, Croke Rovers threw caution to the wind and started to attack with much more intent thanks to the efforts of Gearoid Lynes, Brian O’Sullivan and Mikey Buckley.

And they were rewarded with a goal from Ruairi O’Mahony and points to Shane Curtin and Evan Murphy. Unfortunately for Crokes, this encouraging spell was too late in the game to stage a comeback and St Peters regained their composure to run out fully deserving winners.
