County League wins for Kiskeam, Ballydesmond and Millstreet

-

Kiskeam 1-8 Douglas 1-7

KISKEAM got over the line to better Douglas in the County FL Division 2 to claim their third consecutive victory. Though the outcome was in doubt right up to the last whistle, Kiskeam worked hard for the hour and made the trip to the city rewarding to hold pole position on the table.

Early scores to David Scannell and Sean O’ Sullivan gave the visitors a positive start, Kiskeam had a number of further attacks but failed to capitalize on the advantage on the scoreboard. That allowed Douglas to respond for a well taken goal mid way through the opening half. Kiskeam replied with a point to Gene Casey before Billy Dennehy gave a return pass to Casey who made no mistake to find the Douglas net for a 1-4 to 1-2 advantage. The sides traded points on the restart yet scores were difficult to attain with Sean Meehan, Donal Linehan and Casey key figures to Kiskeam’s game. Douglas reduced the margin to one but couldn’t get the leveling score with Tom O’ Sullivan adding a long range point, the highlight of the second half to confirm the destination of the spoils.
