They are currently seeking applications for 20 courses, including adult literacy, horticulture, computers, cookery and catering, heavy goods vehicle driving, upholstery design, healthcare support and intellectual disability practice. The training centre is a huge boost to the town and area,” he said.
Mr. McCarthy alluded to the Chamber sub-committee, the Charleville Heritage Society, which he said was doing splendid work in highlighting the heritage of the town and area through their monthly meetings and exhibitions such as the photographic exhibition of the former Golden Vale factory, which was seen by up a thousand people.
He also referred to the traffic management in the town and said they were working with Cork County Council to alleviate this problem. But this continues to be challenging and is currently preventing the further development of the town.
He congratulated Cllr Ian Doyle and the traders on the success of the improved display of Christmas lights in the town, which was done at considerable cost, that was met by the traders and grant aid from Cork County Council.
The Chamber also encouraged and assisted local businesses to promote themselves by using social media and E commerce marketing. “We have a number of specific courses to assist them is this regard and we also provide the services where members may avail our staff in the promotion of their business through Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn pages,” added Mr McCarthy.
