ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
There will be Family Fun Parade on St Patrick’s Day March 17. This will start at Ballyhea National School and finish at Supermacs Carpark. Further information will be available closer to the time.
CHURCH NEWS
VIDEO STREAMING – A video streaming facility has been installed in the church to allow weekday and Sunday Mass as well as funeral and wedding ceremonies etc. to be broadcast over the internet. While primarily intended for the sick and housebound, the service is also open to anyone who wishes to have it. The first phase is experimentally operative by logging on to the website mcnmedia.tv/. Family and friends overseas might like to log into this website to see the Parish Masses and what is happening in the Parish Church. Over the next few weeks, we hope to move to the next phase which is to provide a connection for the sick and housebound. Enquiries about the connection can be made in the sacristy or to 086 3016859.
FAMILY PRAYER BOOKLET – A revised booklet of Family Prayers has been prepared by the diocese in the context of the World Meeting of families. Copies are available to order through the sacristy. 100 booklets cost €40.
WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES – A committee has been formed to oversee the arrangements in the parish for the World Meeting of families which will be held in Dublin from August 21 to August 26. A monthly magazine will be published from January to August outlining the various events which we will be observing for the World Day. It will be called Family Matters. Gearóid O’Shea will act as Project Co-Ordinator for the preparation. As the Pope is visiting we are looking for volunteers to steward or to host a family and all further information can be obtained off this website worldmeeting2018.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTIONS – No church gate collection taken up at St Mary’s Church, Ballyhea is endorsed by the parish. Any group or organisation intending to collect outside the church gates are asked to present copies of their permits in the sacristy, together with copies of letters of authorisation of those collecting on their behalf. This should be done before the collection commences.
PRAYERS FOR THE UNBORN – Prayers for the Unborn will be said at all Masses in the parish and you are asked to join with these in your intentions and pray that in our society we may have a greater appreciation of the humanity of Unborn Children and that we may never fail to show them our own humanity. Join with people all over Ireland for the Lenten Crusade for Life. Why not offer up your Prayers and Fasting during Lent for the Protection of the Unborn. Perhaps you may like to say the Rosary each day, do some form of Fasting or have Mass offered starting February 14 and finishing April 1.
IRISH CATHOLIC NEWSPAPER - The Irish Catholic newspaper and the Catholic View are on sale in the porch of the church. The Irish Catholic is priced at €1.80 and the Catholic View is €1.

FIGHT FOR FIONN

Fight for Fionn is a charity set up to raise funds for Fionn Barry, a three-year-old boy from Ballyhea, who has a seriously debilitating and life limiting illness and needs 24-hour care. Currently development is under way to upgrade his home. A number of fundraisers are ongoing. SCHOOL ENROLMENT

SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 – Ballyhea have been drawn against Sarsfields in the Cork County Senior Hurling Championship first Round in 2018. The Losers play the losers of Ballymartle v Glen Rovers. We wish the team and mentors all the best in their preparation.
CUL CAMPS – The club will hold its annual Cúl Camps from July 9 to July 13 Further details to follow.
CLUB DEVELOPMENT – Ballyhea GAA is undertaking a major building construction of dressing rooms, a covered hurling alley, public toilets, a referees’ room and an upstairs area suitable for a gym etc. A Sports Capital Grant has been secured, a loan from Croke Park and a bank loan to finance the majority of this development. However, some fundraising will need to be done to meet the shortfall for this development. The various committees have decided to fundraise with ‘Buy a block to build the wall’. Blocks will be sold at €250 each and on completion of the building, a plaque will be erected with the names of all who contributed to this development.
All of the club’s loans for the previous developments have been cleared, mainly due to your support for the Cork GAA Clubs’ Draw of which about 50% of the funds from each ticket are returned to the club and this money is used solely for development and with your support, this will continue, hopefully.
The development represents the community spirit that has become a major part of Ballyhea GAA achievements over so many years.

CORK GAA GAELTACHT SCHOLARSHIPS 2018 – Is cúis áthais dom Scoláireachtaí Gaeltachta 2018 a fhógairt don samhradh seo chugainn. Applications are being taken now. Note that this updated GAA Scholarship Application Form is required by the college with every application. This is important in order to verify the applications and to enforce the scheme on a first come first served basis. Please also be aware that the Cork Scholarship Scheme applies to Coláiste nd Mumhan, Beal Atha ‘n Ghaorthaidh only and does not apply to any Gaeltacht college. The upcoming fundraising table quiz will take place at the Crossroads Bar in Buttevant on Sunday, March 18, at 8 p.m. A table of four costs €40. There will also be a raffle on the night for spot prizes. Your support would be very much appreciated on what promises to be a great night.
