CAMOGIE

Buttevant Camogie Club continues to be a prominent part, of the Cork County Camogie Championsh­ip scene.

The club has recently joined, in partnershi­p, with Ballyhea Camogie club, which will benefit both clubs, on the playing field and on the membership front. The combined clubs will now play as one in the Junior Camogie fixtures.

The club is holding a table quiz, To raise much needed funds on Sunday next, March 18, in the Crossroads Bar and Restaurant at 8.30pm. A table of four participan­ts will have an entry fee of €40 per table. Your support will be greatly appreciate­d.

PARADE

The annual parade in honour of our national patron saint, Saint Patrick, will be held in Buttevant, on this Saturday, March 17. It is hoped that all groups, businesses, sporting bodies, schools and organisati­ons will participat­e in and support this annual event.

The parade will assemble at Barrack Place, Buttevant, at 10am and it is hoped to commence marching at 10.30am. The parade will proceed via Military Road, Bank Place, Main Street, and onward to Richmond Street, from where it will disperse. Please support your local parade.

TWINNING

Buttevant has been twinned, with Plourivo, Brittany, France, nigh on twenty years, this year. A group, from Plourivo, is planning to visit Buttevant, in August 2018, to mark the 20th, anniversar­y, of the twinning. It is not known whether some, or any, of the original committee, are still in existence, but there may be some persons interested, in forming a welcoming group, for the occasion. LOTTERY

Buttevant soccer club, promotes a weekly local lottery, to raise much needed funds, for the clubs’ expenses. The jackpot now stands at €18,000 and will continue to rise, weekly, until it is won.

DRAMA

Congratula­tions to the Transition Year students of Colaiste Mhuire, Buttevant, who partook in, and won, the All-Ireland Transition Year drama competitio­n, in Mullingar, during the past week.

All-in-all it is reported that it was an out-standing performanc­e. Well done to all concerned.

BINGO

The weekly bingo session continues, in Butttevant, on Monday night in the local GAA hall, with numerous monetary prizes, to be won. The bingo jackpot now stands at €6,400 - and will continue to rise,weekly, until it is won. Games get under way at 08.30, each night.
