Top names set to speak at Music Cork symposium
LEADING GLOBAL MUSIC INSIDERS TO SPEAK AT EVENT THAT WILL ALSO SHOWCASE TOP IRISH ACTS
FOR the second year in succession some of the most influential movers and shakers from the global music industry have been lined up to take part in the Music Cork symposium at venues across the city next month.
The event, which will run for three days from Wednesday, April 25, will once again create a unique platform for people to meet top industry professionals, hear them speak about their work and experiences and take in showcase performances by a hosts of talented artists.
Music Cork will also offer people the opportunity for people to network with speakers and fellow delegates over three days of intimate social gatherings.
The event will kick off with the return of the Music Cork Pub Trail, which will takes delegates on a whistle-stop tour of local establishments before heading off to the Opera House for the first of two nightly showcase gigs.
The first of these will be an all-ages gig featuring Hermitage Green, The Strypes, Stephanie Rainey and Fontaines DC.
Day two will focus on the business end of things, with a series of key note presentations delivered by some of the worlds most respected industry insiders, including Columbia Records senior A&R vice-president Isaac Green, and panel discussions throughout the day.
Other speakers will include Caroline Downey (manager of Hozier and Hudson Taylor), Ciro Romano (MD of Neapolitan Music), Tom Lewis (A&R director at Decca Records), Willie Kavanagh (chairman of IRMA), music and entertainment lawyer Ann Harrison as well as a number of promoters and agents.
This will be followed by the second showcase, with the venue and line-up set to be unveiled over the coming weeks and an after gig party for delegates at Cyprus Avenue.
Music Cork will draw to a close the following morning with a networking brunch for delegates at Goldbergs Bar and Restaurant.
One of the team behind Music Cork, Indiependence Music and Arts Festival co-founder Shane Dunne, said it will be a major event for anyone working within the Irish music industry.
“Delegates will have the opportunity to meet and network with music industry figures from Ireland and abroad, hear about and discuss industry trends and innovations, benefit from years of experience and knowledge while enjoying a relaxed three days around the vibrant streets of Cork,” said Shane.
He said the music showcases would combine the newest talent and some of the great new acts emerging onto the Irish scene.
“We aim to provide an opportunity for some of the best new Irish artists to be seen by some high-calibre professionals from within the business. It will also be a great opportunity for them to be showcased as part of an event that will place the spotlight on the very best the Irish music scene has to offer,” said Shane
“We’d also like to extend an invitation to musicians and students of music from all over Ireland and offer them the opportunity to learn some valuable knowledge about the business side of our industry,” he added.
