Kanturk in high-scoring matches

-

KANTURK AFC Under-16s travelled to Youghal on Wednesday evening, 4 April.

Kanturk went down by a goal just three minutes in. Josh O’Connor equalised six minutes in. In the 24th minute Ruairi O’Sullivan put Kanturk ahead with an assist from Conan Crowley. Youghal got a second soon after.

Cathal Broderick levelled things up before half-time. Kanturk came out a different team, Calvin Conroy, David Kilmartin, Niall Breen and Sean Murphy playing outstandingly at the back. This allowed Josh O’Connor and Jamie Finn time to dominate midfield. Conan Crowley and Cathal Broderick cut up the wings causing trouble for Youghal. Dylan O’Connor played outstanding up front and, being double-marked was unlucky not to bag one. Ruairi O’Sullivan and Antony Higgins were also unlucky not to score. Jamie Finn struck one home with Youghal lucky to equalise. Final score was four-all.

On Sunday, 8 April, Kanturk travelled to Mallow to play the home side at under-12s.

Kanturk AFC Under-12 dominated the game with a final score 6-0 to Kanturk.

This was an impressive win over Mallow town where four of Kanturk’s goals came from corner kicks alone. Jamie Eustace took the corner kicks.

A brilliant passage of play from the whole team helped Stephen Sheehan finish to make it 4-0 at half time.

Mallow started the second half strongly until the Jamie-Szymon setpiece struck again in the 54th minute. Kanturk created plenty more chances before the final whistle blew. It was a great performance from all the players. Man of the match was Szymon Gejzak. The best for Kanturk were Jamie Eustace, Sean O’Connor, and Eoin O’Riordan. On Sunday, 8 April, Kanturk Under-10s played their first non-competitive league game against Mallow Utd. There were very enjoyable games in Banteer Astro with a great performance from all players.
