Speakeasy Toast masters celebrate 25 th anniversary with a night of tall tales

THE Kanturk area was proudly represented at the Speakeasy Toastmasters 25th Anniversary Celebration Night recently held in Mallow.

Speakers from Mallow, Ballyclough, Doneraile and Rathfarnham were joined by Vivien Buckley of Kanturk and Kieran Butler of Cecilstown.

With a speech entitled ‘ The Jump’, Vivien described how a brilliant idea to celebrate a significant birthday turned into a nightmare!

Kieran Butler addressed the triumphs and travails of ‘ The Single Life’. If you are one of the many single people who rage against the single room supplement for the privilege of sleeping alone.

Other speakers included Matt Lawlee and Gerry O’Callaghan.

Activities in Speakeasy Toastmasters continue unabated. On Sunday, 29th April, Ray Ryan, Pat Sexton and Theresa O’Reilly will participate in the Division B (Munster) Finals of the Speech and Evaluation Contests. Theresa, who hails from Newmarket, will proudly represent the Club with her wonderful speech ‘ The Choice’.

The next Speakeasy Meeting will be held in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Thurs-day, 3rd May at 8pm. As always, guests from all over North Cork and beyond are welcome to attend.
