-

Eddie Healy Cup, U11, Kanturk V Youghal Utd

GURTEENARD was the venue for the Eddie Healy Cup game between Kanturk and Youghal Utd. Youghal started strongly with a quick goal in the first few minutes. Play was even between the teams with good determination and effort on both sides. An unlucky deflection off one of the Kanturk players allowed Youghal to go ahead by two goals.

Kanturk were settling at this stage and coming forward Donnacha O’Leary scored a brilliant goal from a distance to make it 2-1. Eoin O’Keeffe was strong on the right wing and moving the ball well. Jack Finnegan was working hard in midfield and it paid off with a goal making the score even 2-2.

Kanturk were now in control in midfield with Ronan Kiely passing well and Oisin Twomey pushing forward. Woyciech Dziedzic played well in both defending and controlling the midfield and made it very hard for Youghal to get through.

Naglis Vaivada, our hard-working attacker, scored two goals putting Kanturk ahead 4-2.

Youghal were coming at Kanturk with everything they had but our defence were very strong and kept them out. Both Marc Watson and Alan Kowalski defended well and were hard to beat and Danny Cronin was outstanding in goal, making some very good saves.

Kanturk came on in the second half with real confidence. Donnacha scored another two goals, a hat trick for him. Youghal came back with a few attempts but Danny was solid in goals.

Oisin Twomey scored another goal to make it 7 – 2 for Kanturk. Alan Kowlaski playing in midfield had a few great shots and got the goal he deserved making the final score 8-2.

Thank you to coaches Nathasa, Adrian and Jamie.
