Fermoy minors enjoy decent win over Watergrasshill

FERMOY had a comfortable win over Watergrasshill in the Carrigaline Court Premier (2) MHC at Rathcormac on Thursday evening. The winners aided by the stiff breeze in the first half got off to a very good start. They had four points on the board by the 6th minute when Sean McCarthy, James Molloy Jake Carr and David Lardner were on target.
Watergrasshill who had to field without Daire O’Leary and Colin Cronin struggled for long periods. They relied mainly on Shane O’Regan for scores. O’Regan lacked scoring support up front with Gavin Gowen their only other scorer. Shane O’Regan pointed a free in the ninth minute. Fermoy
NORTH CORK LADIES FOOTBALL CORK LADIES SUMMER CAMP DATES
The very successful Cork Ladies Football Summer Camp dates have been announced for 2018. For North Cork players the following camps are for your area. From July 2 to 5 Mallow will host, from July 30 to August 2 Fermoy will host and from August 7 to 10 Banteer will host. The camps will be run by Cork Senior footballer Oralgh Farmer and will be assisted by Senior and Minor Cork Ladies footballers. These are hugely successful camps all over the county are open to girls U8 up to and including U-16s.
The cost is €45 and includes a custom made Jersey especially for the Camp, payment isn’t due until the first day of the camp but please register as soon as possible. GRAB YOUR WHISTLE REFEREE COURSE
North Cork Ladies Football will run a Grab Your Whistle Small Sided Games Course on Wed May 9 at a venue to be confirmed. Anyone aged 15 and over can do this course and can referee U-8 and 10s for their Clubs for the summer when the U-8 and 10 league starts in May. North Cork will have a Level 2 Referee Course on Wed May 16 at a venue to be confirmed. Call Catherine on 083 3498778 to book your place on this course.
Please be aware that all Referees have to have Level 2 done every year, be Garda vetted and have the Code of Ethics Course completed as well to be allowed to go on the list of Referees for the Cork County Board and the North Cork Board.

A foul on Shane O’Regan after he was put through by Padraigh O’Leary led to a vital penalty for Watergrasshill. Shane O’Regan’s well taken effort was expertly saved by Josh Shanahan and cleared. The ‘Hill’ had a point by Gavin Gowen. After 50 minutes play Fermoy held a lead 0-17 to 0-9.
The East Cork side had a goal by Shane O’Regan in the 55th minute which proved too little too late. Fermoy finished out the game very strong with a string of points by David Lardner (3) Duncan Ekechukwu and Luke Aherne while Shane O’Regan pointed a ‘65 for the ‘Hill.
