PILGRIM WALK TO SHRONE

At present the weather is promising for next weekend’s 16th annual Pilgrim Walk to Shrone at the foot of the Paps. There is an early start at 7.30 a.m. at Cronin’s Farm, Cloch Aidhneach, Cill na Martra or meet the Walk at the Mills, Baile Mhuirne at 8.45 a.m. It will be signposted from the Mons Bar on the N22. Walkers are reminded to wear strong walking boots, as the walk crosses tracks and trails. Go dtéigh gach éinne slán.

FLEADH CHEOIL

Fleadh Cheoil an Chontae is just around the corner, starting on Wednesday, May 9, with a tribute night to the late Tadhg Kearney in the Auld Triangle. It will cross the road to the Riverside Park Hotel next night, Thursday, May 10, for a night of song. The Official Opening and 40th birthday celebratio­ns will be on Friday, May 11, in the Castle Hotel. Competitio­ns will take place on Saturday and Sunday as always, with an Oíche Amhránaíoc­hta led by TG4 Amhránaí na Bliana, Máire Ní Chéilleach­air on Saturday night. Acadh Aidhneach Comhaltas are noted for their meticulous planning, so a spectacula­r weekend is in store.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

There was a great turnout last Monday night in Community Hall, Fr Wickham gave a synopsis of what a parish pastoral council entails. Many spoke and asked questions and a few suggestion­s were discussed. The main theme on the night was ones love for ones parish and how best to encourage more families to attend Mass. A further meeting will be held in Sept when a committee will be formed, with further meetings on a regular basis. More chat, discussion­s, and suggestion­s will hopefully take place after the special Family Mass on Saturday night, May 19, in the Community Hall.

MUINFLIUCH FUNDRAISER

Muinefliuc­h NS parents’ associatio­n would like to thank all those who took part in their 5km fun run on Sunday, April 29. A great crowd supported the event and everyone enjoyed the day. Well earned refreshmen­ts were served in the school after, followed by a bumper raffle. Thank you to everyone who helped out on the day and to all local businesses for your kind donations to the raffle.

Congratula­tions to the underwho had a great win over Macroom on a score line of 3-12 to 2-7. Well done to the under-eight’s who had a great day out last Saturday at a blitz in Rusheen with Aghinagh and the Dohenys.
