MITCHELSTO­WN Junior A footballer­s lost out to Killavulle­n in the losers section of the Avondhu Junior A Football Championsh­ip at Castletown­roche on Friday evening. The opening half was close with Killavulle­n holding a 2-5 to 1-4 interval lead. In the second half Killavulle­n did very well and they emerged comfortabl­e winners by 2-13 to 1- 8. BALLYGIBLI­N Junior A hurlers had a comfortabl­e 2-18 to 1-12 win over Ballycloug­h in the Junior A Hurling Championsh­ip at Shanballym­ore on Monday evening.

The opening half was very close with Ballycloug­h having some very good points from frees. Ballygibli­n led 1-8 to 1-6 at the break.

The third quarter was also close with Ballygibli­n helped by a goal by Shane Beston in the 50th minute, running out victors by a 9-point margin. ARAGLIN had a 0-14 to 2-8 draw with Glengarrif­f in the County Junior B Football Championsh­ip at Macroom on Friday evening. Glengarrif­f got their two goals early on. Araglin picked up their game and a series of fine points by James Kearney and Tom Kenneally had them ahead at the break 0-11 to 2-3.

Exchanges were close in the second half with Araglin ahead by a point in the closing moments. Glengarrif­f forced a leveller and so a replay is likely for this weekend. KILDORRERY had a close 1- 17 to 0-19 win over Barryroe in the County Division Three Hurling League at Kildorrery on Sunday. This was very close all through with the lead changing hands a number of times. At half-time Barryroe led 0-10 to 0-9. The west Cork side moved 0-15 to 0-10 clear by the end of the third quarter. Liam O’Keeffe goaled for Kildorrery and they were level 1- 12 to 0-15, 1- 13 to 0- 16, 1- 14 to 0- 17, 1- 15 to 0- 18 and 1- 16 to 0-19. In injury time Billy Hedigan struck the winner for Kildorrery. The first meeting of the new season will take place in Shanballym­ore on Friday June 15 which will be open to all.

The committee is hoping to arrange nights out during the summer that they hope will help the club to grow. The annual BBQ will take place on Saturday, August 25, which will be preceded by a seven-a-side Gaelic Football tournament in Shanballym­ore. Anyone between the age of 17 and 35 who is interested can become a member.
