ANDY Ayl­ward has been ap­pointed Michelin’s Re­tail Pro­gramme

Man­ager for Ire­land and the UK, over­see­ing its net­work of more than 80 ac­cred­ited car and mo­tor­cy­cle deal­ers, which are each Michelin Cer­ti­fied Cen­tres.

The 30-year Michelin man was pre­vi­ously at the helm of the com­pany’s two-wheel re­tail pro­gramme – and he’s now look­ing to repli­cate his suc­cess across the car tyre sec­tor as well.

‘ This will be a pro­gramme that works with cus­tomers on an in­di­vid­ual level. I’m not look­ing at a heavy top-down ap­proach,

I’ll be look­ing from a cus­tomer level up – ask­ing them the ques­tion,

‘What do you need us to do?’, he said.

Ayl­ward, 48, be­came Cus­tomer Busi­ness De­vel­op­ment Man­ager for mo­tor­cy­cle across the UK, Ire­land and Nordics in Oc­to­ber 2014.

He be­gan his long-serv­ing Michelin ca­reer as a pro­duc­tion worker in the fac­tory be­fore branch­ing out into roles within cus­tomer ser­vice, in­voic­ing, IT and sales sup­port. Sub­se­quently, he be­came a car ac­count man­ager and busi­ness de­vel­op­ment man­ager. FIAT Ire­land has an­nounced that cus­tomers can now ben­e­fit from a new pric­ing struc­ture that will mean petrol and diesel vari­ants for its Tipo Fam­ily are now aligned. This ac­tion means that the en­try price for the Tipo Fam­ily will now be the Sedan Easy ver­sion at €17,995 (or the Hatch­back Pop ver­sion for the same price) for both the 95hp petrol and diesel ver­sions (petrol 1.4 95hp, diesel 1.3 95hp).

The Fiat Tipo is avail­able as a 4-door sedan, 5-door hatch­back and as a sta­tion wagon of­fer­ing drivers a choice of out­stand­ing value cars to suit their needs. The Tipo comes stan­dard with air con­di­tion­ing, Ucon­nect™ ra­dio with 5-inch dis­play and voice com­mands.

The Fiat Tipo re­cently cel­e­brated 30 years of func­tion­al­ity, sim­plic­ity and per­son­al­ity. The orig­i­nal model was launched to the public on 26 Jan­uary 1988. It em­ployed in­no­va­tive man­u­fac­tur­ing tech­nolo­gies and high-qual­ity ma­te­ri­als to guar­an­tee re­li­a­bil­ity and qual­ity, in­clud­ing a light­weight, cor­ro­sion-free plas­tic boot hatch.

Any cus­tomer, ex­ist­ing or new can take full ad­van­tage of the ‘Fiat Wel­come Bonus’ of­fers of up to €2,500 for reg­is­tra­tions by July 31, 2018 on top of the diesel : petrol price match.

The Tipo fam­ily starts with the 1.4-litre 95hp Fire petrol engine. Com­bined with a man­ual trans­mis­sion, it pro­duces 133g/km CO2 while re­turn­ing 5.7/100km on the com­bined cy­cle and trav­el­ling from zero to 100kph in 11.5 sec­onds. The 1.3 M-Jet 95hp diesel with a man­ual trans­mis­sion, it pro­duces 98g/km CO2 while re­turn­ing 3.7 l/100km on the com­bined cy­cle and trav­el­ling from zero to 100kph in 11.7 sec­onds.
