Dromtarriffe take U-12 B hurling title against Ballygiblin

DROMTARRIFFE took the Rebel Og U-12 B HL (11-a-side) title at Castletownroche on Thursday when they had five points to spare over Ballygiblin. Exchanges were very close in the opening half.

The winners opened the scoring in the seventh minute when a free by Shane O’Riordan was sent over by Fionn Murphy. Ballygiblin created a few chances but a solid Dromtarriffe defence held firm. Clement Motherway levelled with a free in the 11th minute.

The Duhallow side hit the front soon after when Diarmuid O’Sullivan pointed a free. Harrisson Conway forced a ‘65’ in the closing minutes and Clement Motherway levelled and so they were deadlocked at the break 0-2 each.

On the changeover Shane O’Riordan pointed a ‘65’ and Fionn Murphy followed with a point 0-4 to 0-2. Ballygiblin had a goal in the eighth minute by Harrisson Conway that saw them move ahead 1-2 to 0-4.

Ballygiblin lost their way from here to the end. They failed to score again and it was Dromtarriffe that took control. A ‘65’ by Diarmuid O’Sullivan led to a fine point by Shane O’Riordan. Thomas Cassidy gave the winners the lead. Fionn Murphy had a point with Shane O’Riordan having a goal for the winners as they ran out victors by 1-7 to 1-2.

After the game Patsy O’Mahony Rebel, Og North Cisteoir, presented the shield to the winning captain Shane O’Riordan.
