Banteer TIDY TOWNS
Banteer Tidy Towns have put the name plaque “The Canons Bridge” on the railway bridge on the Nadd Road. The Tidy Towns Competition encourages towns and villages to retain historical names of places of local heritage. The Plaque was kindly donated by Conor O’ Leary (O’ Leary Stone). The Committee are very grateful to him for supporting their work. If any other business in the locality would like to make a contribution to a Tidy Towns Project, please contact a member of the Committee. Many thanks to the volunteers who turn up every Mon and Wed night. Thanks also to the Macra members for their help and to Donal Clancy for keeping the hedgerows in trim. New members always welcome. LONG PUC WIN FOR CALLUM
The 2018 Cork Poc Fada run by Cork GAA and Rebel Og Coaching and Games took place at Garryvoe Beach on Thur June 7th. With weather conditions very good, a nice sunny evening with very little breeze along the course on Garryvoe Beach with Banteers Calum O Shaughnessy winning the U 16 section. Well done to Calum and to all who took part and the winners now go on to represent Cork in the Munster section of the Poc Fada Munster Competition on 16th June and Provincial Winners will advance to the All-Ireland Final on Saturday August 4th.

Having impressed in the Ardennes classics and the Tour de Yorkshire, Eddie Dunbar put in a fantastic ride and ended the five-stage Baloise Belgium Tour in 4th place overall.

OVER 60S SINGING COMPETITION
The final of this competition will be staged in City Hall Cork on June 17th. A bus will be leaving the community centre at 5pm. If you wish to travel on this bus please contact Claire in the Social Club to see if there are places available.
SOCIAL CLUB
Corks favourite American singer Hank Wedel will appear in the Social Club on Saturday 16 June at 10pm. This is an evening not to be missed so please come along and see a singer songwriter who has been 30 years in the music business.
GOLF SOCIETY
The Golf society’s next outing is this Saturday in Fermoy Golf Club. Tee times are between 10 & 11am. The cost is €30 and this includes a steak dinner. Please let the committee know by Thursday if you wish to go.
TIR NA NOG.
The group met this week for a walk in Ballyhass Lakes followed by coffee and a chat. Please look out for texts during the Summer as walks will be arranged. These, of course, are open to everyone.
CROKE ROVERS
A 6km fund raising walk was held last Sunday in Castlemagner. A huge crowd turned out on a beautiful day. Croke Rovers would like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, marshals and traffic management. They would especially like to thank most of all the people that turned out on the day.
KILBRIN CEMETERY
As you may have seen the cemetery has been upgraded again thanks to the dedication of the volunteers. A new footpath has been laid which enhances access. We thank Cork county council and the graveyard committee for getting this completed. Annual June prayers will be held this year.
LACKEEL CEMETERY
More clearance work has been carried out in the past few weeks. It is hoped to have it ready for prayers in August with gates and peers in place and old church marked out.
FOROIGE.
The foroige club has been ran in Kilbrin over the last number of years with weekends away, gatherings and had many events for our teenagers. We would like to thank Catriona and Edel for organising all of these events and for their dedication over these years. They are however moving on and as a community we must decide if we want to keep this very valuable club going. If you are interested in getting involved please contact Catriona on 0871245472. Without volunteers at this juncture this club will cease to exist and that would be a great shame so we would ask everyone to give it your consideration.

DROMTARIFFE G.A.A.
Dromtarriffe GAA in association with Dromtarriffe LGFA & Juvenile GAA recently has launched their 5 year redevelopment plan, which will incorporate the repositioning of the 2nd pitch to allow for an Astra Turf and all weather pitch, constructing a hurling wall and viewing stand, health walkway and a members gym. The clubs will be undertaking a number of fundraisers commencing on July 15th with a family day, including Colour Run, Puc Fada, BBQ and other events details nearer the time. Also on August 4 a Golf Classic in Kanturk Golf Club . Teams of 3 €150.00 - contact club officers for more details.
Club history: As part of our family day we are hoping to have a club history of photos of Dromtarriffe teams through the years. Any team photos will be copied.
