Boherbue FIRST COMMUNION

On Saturday, May 19, the Church of the Immaculate Conception was packed to almost capacity when 20 young girls and boys received their First Holy Communion. The celebrant was Rev Jim Kennelly PP while the recipients were well prepared by their teacher.

The Boherbue District of the Irish Girl Guides wish to sincerely thank all those who so generously supported their coffee morning in the Pearse Memorial Hall on Saturday last. Those, who were lucky enough to have attended the venture were ‘licking their lips’ as they left wondering what date next year’s event is.

GOLF SOCIETY

Boherbue Golf Society played the Captain’s Prize (Andrew Moynihan) at Kenmare Golf Club on Saturday last amid some glorious sunshine. The top prize was won by John McAuliffe, West End with a score of 41 points. Other winners were second Tadgh Leahy 39 points, third Ann Sheahan 38 points, gross – Brian Barry 38 points, fourth Charlie Daly 37 points, fifth Andy Daly 35 points, sixth Frank Sheahan 35 points, seventh Colin Heffernan 32 points, eighth Tony Walshe 30 points.

Freemount 45 DRIVE

AROUND THE FIRESIDE

The next programme of Around the Fireside will be broadcast on C103 Local Radio on Monday night next June 18th,.2018 at 9.50pm. On Monday night we have groups from Rambling Houses and Seisiún Groups in the area who have come together to pay tribute to the late Sean Clifford ,Newmarket who died this year.This is another great programme of Around the Fireside not to be missed. ST MICHAEL’S CHURCH

Mass on Sunday Morning at 10.30am as usual. Holy Hour and Mass on Monday Evening at 7pm. Mass on Tuesday Morning at 9.30am.

GRAMOPHONE CIRCLE

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions to Sean O’Connor Ballybahal­low who was a member of the Kanturk Under 12 soccer team, who won their division in the Cork schoolboys league recently.

ART AND DRAMA

A fun-filled Art and Drama camp will run from the 23rd to the 27th of July this Summer in the Freemount Heritage Centre. The camp runs from 10am to 1pm daily at a cost of €65 per child.

The camp is run by Mike Guerin who teaches drama classes locally and has been writing, acting and directing for over twenty years. Bríd Moynahan, who designs all the arts and crafts, has been a practicing artist for fifteen years and has run several art camps over the years.

The camp is open to national school children and there is a limited number of spaces to ensure a high adult:child ratio so book your place with Mike on 087 4124741 to avoid disappoint­ment

Nagle our local cycling enthusiast will cycle The Ring of Kerry on July 7th.to help raise funds for this worthy charity thereby ensuring that relatives can be helped if ever they are faced with the trauma of having somebody seriously ill in hospital . Our compliment­s to the hard working Tidy Towns team, they have Freemount looking beautiful this summer. In the recent sunshine the tasteful touches all around the place are evident as you drive through the village. Thank you to everyone who helped out for Fr Keogh’s Months Mind mass in any way last Friday night. The choir, and church and the beautiful food at the community hall after. To the FAS team and Ger for helping to get the hall ready during the week.
