- MARIA HERLIHY

LEADER funding of over €400,000 will make its way to 17 various community and voluntary groups across Duhallow.

Some of the groups which will now receive funding for their local projects include Dromahane Community Playground, Milford Community Hall, Duhallow Youth Research Project, and Lyre Community Park and Leisure Area. In addition, Millstreet Daycare Centre. In total, €418,062 will be furnished.

Welcoming the funding, Minister Michael Creed said there has been a significant expansion of activity over the last year since the Government introduced a range of measures to make the programme work better for “potential applicants and for the Leader Local Action Groups which deliver the programme on the ground.”

He said the Leader programme funds projects under a diverse range of themes which include enterprise development, rural tourism, social inclusion and the environment.
