Junior hurlers face fancied Newmarket in championship
THE Kanturk Junior hurlers travel to Tullylease to face Newmarket in the first round of the Duhallow Junior Hurling Championship on Sunday, 24th June with a 2pm start.
Newmarket are building on their promising work of recent years and are in the Duhallow JHL final, and are one of the fancied sides for the Duhallow championship and will be expected to progress.
With Cork winning through to the Munster hurling final, and also involved in the Munster senior football final, the likelihood of Kanturk seeing championship action is uncertain until at least 22nd July at the earliest.
UNDERAGE AFFAIRS:
Wolfe Tones (Kanturk) took part in the Brian Cronin U10 football tournament on Saturday last at Rathcoole and lost out to Glenville, the eventual winners, by 1-0 to 4.07. Macroom defeated our team by 1-04 to 2-0 while we defeated Aghinagh by 2-04 to 0-02 in our last game.
It was a great experience by our lads to have six games over consecutive Saturdays.
FOOTBALL FINAL:
Best wishes to Aidan Walsh and Cork Senior Footballers who face Kerry in the Munster football final in Pairc Ui Caoimh on Saturday, 23rd June at 7pm. This will be the first Cork versus Kerry senior football final at the new stadium and a large crowd is expected to attend.
