Cork v Clare

CORK will take on Clare at Páirc Uí Rinn this Friday night looking to secure their place in what will likely be another powerhouse clash between the big two in Munster football.

The Rebels come into the game after obliterating Tipperary in the quarter final by all of 15 points, 1-20 to 0-8, however they will likely find Clare a stiffer opposition as a date in the showpiece game draws closer.

Clare have been impressing at underage and have managed to secure a place in the Munster Minor Football Final this weekend where they will take on Kerry, which is some indication that the Banner County is getting g stronger at all grades, so don’t be surprised to see the men in yellow give a good account of themselves on the banks of the Lee this Friday night.

That said, Cork will go into this one as strong favourites with the likes of Mark Keane, Cillian Myers Murray and Seán Walsh all likely to play a major role in the Rebel challenge.

Matthew Bradley, Tadhg Corkery and Damien Gore will also likely have a big say in what happens at the start of this big weekend for Cork football while the clinical boot of talisman Chris Óg Jones will again be required to put Clare away as easily as possible.

Jones and the afore mentioned Bradley, from Iveleary and Aghabullogue respectively should be Cork’s main scoring threat, while Myres Murray will hope to repeat his heroics from the previous round with another goal from play.

Cork won’t want to take anything for granted here as the likelihood is that Kerry will breeze past Waterford at the same time in Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

The final is scheduled for Friday week at 7.30pm, however, the venue won’t be known until the protagonists have worked their way through.

Verdict: Cork
