Kilworth get campaign back on track against battling Glanworth

KILWORTH Junior A footballers are back on track in the Synergy Fermoy Credit Union JAFC as they ran out comprehensive victors over Glanworth in the losers section at Ballygiblin on Wednesday evening.

The early exchanges were keenly contested and by the 17th minute they couldn’t be separated when level for the third time at 0-3 apiece when Liam Cotter (3) Jason McCarthy (2) and Paudie Lynch were on target.

The remainder of the half certainly saw Kilworth gain the upperhand with Ciaran Gowen, David Twomey, Thomas Twomey, Brian Sheehan, Eoin McGrath, Jason McCarthy, Aidan Condon and Paudie Lynch doing very well.

They found scores much easier to come by in the run up to the break with Jason McCarthy, Brian Sheehan and Aidan Condon figuring on the scoreboard that helped them to a 0-7 to 0-3 interval lead.

On the restart Kilworth with the aid of the wind continued to dominate. They opened the scoring when a delivery by Justin Ahern was gathered by Eoin McGrath who kicked over.

In the 37th minute they struck for the only goal of the game when Paudie Lynch and Brian Sheehan combined well to set up Jason McCarthy who netted from a tight angle 1-8 to 0-3.

Glanworth battled hard. Michael Cashman added a point by the end of the third quarter, however there was no denying Kilworth their well merited victory. Aidan Condon, Jason McCarthy, Pat O’Brien and Paudie Lynch added minors before the end that sealed the issue long before the final whistle.
