Buttevant win convincingly

Buttevant 4-13 Mitchelstown 1-8

BUTTEVANT were convincing winners over Mitchelstown in the Cavanagh’s Fermoy Div 1 FL game at Mitchelstown on Wednesday evening. The winners dominated from the start and the outcome was never in doubt. On top in vital sectors Buttevant’s corner-forward.

Mark Lenahan was in great form scoring four goals. Mitchelstown short some key players lacked penetration up front. By half time Buttevant led 1-7 to 0-3.

Any hope of a second half revival was quickly dashed when Lenahan had his second goal in the 32nd minute.

Mitchelstown replied with a Brian White goal. Rapid points by Kevin O’Keeffe, Brian O’Shaughnessy Paul Mannix and Ryan Fowley made it 2-12 to 1- 4 entering the 47th minute.

Mark Lenahan had two more goals with Mitchelstown’s Liam Keane being denied a good goal scoring chance by David Walsh with the rebound going over for a point. With a couple of games yet to be played it looks like Mallow, Kilshannig,

Buttevant and Charleville being the teams to advance to the knockout stages.
