Congratula­tions to Kim O Sullivan Rylane who won 2 Gold Medals one for Soft Ball and one for Walking to Dan O Sullivan Horsemount who won Bronze for Soccer and Seamus won Bronze for Golf, there was great excitement on Sunday night in Ballinagre­e when the two O Sullivans Brothers came into the Village of Ballinagre­e, they were met with bonfires blazing and food and refreshmen­ts laid on by Mariam Manning of The Laine Bar, even though they were tired they partied away for a few hours, there was also bonfires in Rylane for Kim who stayed in The Anvil for a little while but she was very tired thanks to Marie for all the refreshmen­ts.Joseph Dineen Coachford got silver in Golf a great achievemen­t for The Muskerry area.

ST JOHNS NIGHT

On next Monday night St Johns NightJune 25th Pattern Night will start the Platform Dancing in the Mountain, a tradition thats going back 150 years music by Jerome Liam and The Lee Sound There will be Mass at St Johns Well first at 8pm It is a day late on account of not having Mass Sunday evening June 24th.

OVER 60S SINGING

Congratula­tions to Pat Murphy and Jimmy Healy who sang very well in The City Hall,last night they sang a beautiful song each, they werent successful­l on the night but they have no reason to be disappoint­ed they sang beautifull­y.

A brand new Defibrilla­tor has been mounted on the wall of Cois Cille recently. All parishione­rs are encouraged to memorise the code for opening the heated box. It is very reassuring to have such a vital machine available to all.

A light to be installed immediatel­y at Doctor Croke House and all roads and pot holes are to be repaired in the area. Anyone with a serious request relating to this can contact the council. It was also noted by the council that land owners are responsibl­e for cutting hedges. The council will be writing to land owners with road frontage to remind them of same.

We would like to thank the council for their attendance and we will be eagerly awaiting commenceme­nt of the works.

OVER 60S SINGING

The final of the Over 60s singing competitio­n was held in City Hall Cork in front of a packed hall. Duhallow ‘s representa­tive were Nora Mary O Riordan who performed very well. A large local attendance was present to support Nora Mary on the night and we would like to thank everyone that attended. Everyone enjoyed the night and there was plenty more entertainm­ent on the bus home. Thanks to all for organising the bus and tickets etc.

GOLF SOCIETY

The Golf society’s latest outing was held in Fermoy Golf Club last week. A very enjoyable day was had by all in beautiful weather and a lovely steak dinner followed. The results-; 1. Anna O’Riordan, Pat Duane, Mick Dennehy. 2. Mick Higgins, Sean McAuliffe, Betty Sheil. 3. Denis O’Connell, Shane Crowley, Mary Moran. 4. Damien Crowley, Martin O’Riordan, Betty McCarthy. 5. Denis Buckley, Tom O’Riordan, Jerh Moran. Next outing for the society is to Newcastlew­est, on Saturday 21st July.

KILBRIN NATIONAL SCHOOL

5th & 6th class pupils travelled to the RDS in Dublin for the Junior Entreprene­ur programme last week. Also the school tour went to Kennedy’s pet farm in Killarney. When the school tour is done it normally means holidays are not far away and they start this Friday. We would like to wish all the pupils and teachers a safe and enjoyable summer break.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The next meeting of the Kilbrin Community Council will take place on the second Tuesday in July.

FOROIGE

The Foroige club has been ran in Kilbrin over the last number of years with weekends away, gatherings and had many events for our teenagers. We would like to thank Catriona and Edel for organising all of these events and for their dedication over these years. They are however moving on and as a community we must decide if we want to keep this very valuable club going. If you are interested in getting involved please contact Catriona on 0871245472. Without volunteers at this juncture this club will cease to exist and that would be a great shame so we would ask everyone to give it your considerat­ion.

PLAYGROUND NOTICE

Can we please ask that people using the playground are mindful to keep it tidy. There is a notice on the gate in relation to this and we would ask that people appreciate that the upkeep is on a voluntary basis. Now that the Summer holidays are upon us we expect the playground to be extra busy so please keep it in a condition that we would like to find it.

SUICIDE AWARENESS

The recent church gate collection for suicide awareness, raised €137. We wish to thank everyone that contribute­d.

Dillon rides for the Dublin Team Gerard-DHL along with Paidi O’Brien, who finished fifth in the crit. Jennifer Bates finished second in the Ladies crit. We wish Dillon & Paidi and their team Gerard-DHL the very best of luck for the rest of the season.
