How Mallow’s historic Castle Quarter has got a new lease on life

-

LIKE any vibrant town of its size Mallow is constantly changing and adapting to meet the needs of its growing population. In this, the second of our

#lovemallow series we’re looking at the Spa, Bridge St, St Joseph’s Road and Carrigoon areas, which have undergone something of a transformation in recent years, creating a vibrant place that attracts people and offers them a more relaxed atmosphere to that of the busy town centre.

The purchase by Cork County Council of Mallow Castle, and the many social and festival activities that have resulted, has brought added life to the area, and bodes well for the future, too.

The castle and the new plaza has greatly improved footfall through this historic part of the town, bringing a welcome bonus to local traders.

Over the years the area has developed to the point where it now boasts a thriving business community, offering a diverse range of goods and services.

If you are looking to fit your house out your home with new furniture or fittings there are plenty to places in the area that will look after you every need.

If, on the other hand you are the more outdoor type, there is plenty to interest those with green fingers or who take an active interest in various outdoor sports and activities.

You may be looking for that special gift, in which case you will find it here, take the chance to sample some fine eat-in or takeaway cuisine, pick up some fashion accessories and even get your hair trimmed afterwards!

Another great advantage of Mallow’s ‘golden triangle’ is that there is an abundance of on and off-street parking in the vicinity.

It is fair to say that this little corner of Mallow boasts a ‘ little bit of everything’.

If you enjoy shopping, want to take a stroll in the park away from the hustle and bustle of the busy town centre or want to find out more about Mallow’s rich and vibrant heritage this is the place to go.
