Top of Coom ready to mark its 40th birthday in glorious, well-shorn style
THE Top of Coom in Kilgarvan is the place to be this Sunday for the annual Top of Coom shearing competitions, which celebrates their 40th birthday this year.
The 2018 event will be bigger and better than ever to celebrate the occasion and will include a host of shearing competitions and tests, as well as plenty of family fun.
There is great excitement about two Internatoinal Sheep Shearing tests – Ireland v Scotland and Ireland v Wales.
The official Irish team for the World Championships will also be announced, as well as this year’s All-Ireland champions.
These will be alongside a host of shearing competitions which will see local and national competitors battle it out for the titles.
There will also be bouncing castles, ice-cream, barbecue and music to entertain people of all ages throughout the day. The well-known band ‘No Strings Attached’ will play live at the Top of Coom pub.
The annual event is a great day to meet people you haven’t seen in a while, a day to enjoy the skill of sheep shearing, the entertainment, and to share a laugh and bring the community together.
