Top Irish acts set to play ‘Cork Rocks’ at the Cork Racecourse

THE Cork Racecourse will be rocking to the sound of some of Ireland’s top music acts during a summer spectacula­r at the Mallow venue on Friday, July 13.

The racing and music worlds will come together for one night at the racecourse, staring with an evening featuring a top class card of national hunt racing with the first race going to post at 5.45pm.

Once the final race is over the stage will be set for ‘Cork Rocks’, a musical extravagan­za featuring live performanc­es by an exciting mix of acts including Gina, Dale Haze and the Conquerors, Deuces Wild and Handipak.

The night will be rounded off with a set by Donegal band Little Hours, featuring singer/songwriter John Doherty. Formed in 2014, Little hours have rapidly become one of the hottest acts on the Irish music scene thanks in no small measure to their singles ‘It’s Still Love’, ‘ How Could I Love You?’ and Water. The last two singles were taken from their debut EP ‘ Too Much Patience’, which went straight to the top spot in the iTunes chart.

As well as gaining a huge fan base, the band has caught the attention of music insiders playing support to artists including Birdy, Hudson Taylor and Rodrigo y Gabriela and will be support for Gavin James’ Trinity summer gig.

There will be lots of children’s entertainm­ent on the night, from climbing walls to inflatable slides, with free entry for children under-14 when accompanie­d with an adult.

GAA clubs from Whitechurc­h, Doneraile and Fermoy, along with Mallow Rugby Club will be in attendance as they host their clubs fundraisin­g night and bid for their chance to win the €1,000 sweepstake up for grabs.

Cork Racecourse has laid on a range of tickets options for the night staring with the Social Pack, which will include admission to the racing and concert, a €5 tote bet and a free pint.

Alternativ­ely, tables can be reserved in the Pavilion for the €50 BBQ corporate buffet offering or on the third floor of the grandstand for the four course dinner at €55 per person.

There will also be a free shuttle bus service to the track from Mallow railway station or if you are driving, free on-site car parking.
