Mallow Utd schoolgirls awards
LAST Thursday evening in St. Mary’s Secondary School the very first Mallow United schoolgirls awards night and celebration was held.
The evening was hosted by coach Kim Walsh and guest speaker on the night was Mallow man Matt Robinson, chairperson of the Cork Womens and Schoolgirls Soccer League, who spoke enthusiastically of the history of soccer in Mallow and how proud the club should be of the girl’s achievements in their first year playing in the league. One of the highlights of the year was the U/12s playing in Turner’s Cross in a shield final.
Awards were given to the best players and most improved, while each player received a medal to commemorate this momentous occasion.
Most improved player at U14 level was Destiny Osayame, while player of the year went to Rejoy Asante. Danielle Walsh received most improved player at U12 and player of the Year was given to Lois Asante, who was also was the top goal scorer in both age groups.
Celebrations were held afterwards and the evening came to an end as always with a match.
A huge thanks to all who came, parents who travelled throughout the season and also to the coaches that volunteered their time and energy.
