The Corkman

Story of the match...

-

Turning Point

The two minutes before the break that saw Luke Meade goal and then Mark Coleman knock over a long-range sidle line cut ultimately decided this game. There may have been another 35 still to go, but Cork took this game by the scruff when Coleman’s cut sailed over from all of 70 metres.

Man of the Match

For long periods this accolade looked like it would be heading to Clare’s John Conlon, who for long spells gave the perfect performance but when the dust settled and Seamus Harnedy lifted the cup, he was also accepting the honour. Harnedy was magnificent.

Score of the game

Plenty contenders from both camps with a host of points from Conlon and Horgan vying for the award. A game with five goals is always likely to have a classy one or two and this game had more than its fair share but back to Coleman and that sideline. The young man is a machine when it comes to this particular art form – a wonder point.

Season So Far

So how good are Cork, really? The men from Ireland’s largest county came into the game as underdogs, actually came into the competition rated four of five but now are champions and deservedly so. Cork will head to Croker with confidence – still plenty to do but wouldn’t be writing these boys off any time soon.
