A blooming great end to year at Meelin NS
The fourteen pupils who graduated from Meelin National School were honoured for their contributions to school life over the past eight years and commended for their unique skills and talents.
Each student was presented with a trophy by their teacher Moira O’Connor while the citations were read out by Principal Celine Doody.
Following the Mass, they released balloons to which they attached their hopes and dreams for the future. Several children from various other classes received Swimming, Athletics, and Attendance Awards.
This year, pupils and staff were delighted to receive a Poly Tunnel from the Community Garden and Bridie Moynihan which was erected by Michael Duggan and family. Connie and Pat O’ Neill then constructed raised beds in which the children planted various vegetables.
Also, with the help of Mr. O’Sullivan, the children designed a sensory garden which includes a seating area and beautiful plants to touch, smell and feel.
Following the Graduation Ceremony, the poly tunnel was officially opened by Kate O’Neill, Sharon O’Sullivan and Aoife O’Sullivan while the Sensory Garden was officially opened by Ronan Curtin and Paudie McCarthy.
Finally, jelly, ice cream and various other refreshments went down at treat at the End of Year Party at the school.
