Sunbaked barbecue on New Road
STRAW hats, sunglasses and ice-cold drinks were the order of the day on last Sunday afternoon at the annual Social Services/Meals On Wheels barbecue, which was held at the centre on the New Road.
Over 100 guests were present in glorious sunshine as DJ Johnny Bottles and musician Johnny Bongos entertained for the three-hour event. Personel from the Social Services were kept on their toes, serving up drinks and hot food on canopy-covered tables.
Mallow-born Fr Jimmy Stubbs, who is based in St Albans in the UK, was present, as was Sister Marilu, who is Mexican and a member of the Missionaries of San Charles. Sr Marilu is learning English in Mallow.
