MILLSTREET played host to the Humphrey Kelleher Memorial Under-15 Football Cup Final on Saturday last.

The tournament remembered a great exponent in Millstreet and Cork football who helped Cork capture the 1973 All Ireland Senior Football Championsh­ip title.

Under-15 county teams from Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick, Clare, Cork and Kerry participat­ed.

The preliminar­y rounds took place in Boherbue and Cullen, before a Cork West team landed the outright spoils over a Kerry North side at Millstreet Town Park.

Millstreet Juvenile GAA helped co-ordinate the afternoon programme in Millstreet.

Mrs Mai Kelleher presented the Humphrey Kelleher Memorial Cup to Cork captain Shane Kingston.

Final hosts Millstreet won unanimous praise for their excellent organisati­on, every attention to detail – from parking to serving refreshmen­ts – made the trip to Millstreet memorable for all involved with the teams.

Millstreet Juvenile GAA Club would also like to thank everyone who supported its recent church gate collection.

In other GAA news, Duarigle Gaels were well-served by players on Cork Football Developmen­t squads last weekend.

Darragh Cashman and Luke Murphy were part of a Cork team to win the Munster Under-16 Shield Tournament in Limerick and Eoin Sheehan figured on the Cork East side in the Humphrey Kelleher Tournament.

Additional­ly, Dárragh Moynihan and Leon Doody were part of the North Cork line up in an under-14 Tournament in Waterford.
