Add rainbow colours to your wedding

-

ONE of the most popular summer colour trends of 2018 is the rainbow colours. Traditionally, these colours are associated with world peace and the LGBT community, but such is the popularity and widespread use of the colours in recent years, they’ve now become a universal symbol - plus the fact wedding days are a great opportunity to use them to their fullest.

Recent statistics show that 759 same sex couples got married in 2017 in Ireland with the majority (69%) opting for civil marriage ceremonies. This was followed in second place by The Humanist Association of Ireland (14.6%). Marriage is available for everyone nowadays which is a great reason for everyone to celebrate. Opposite sex couples should also incorporate the rainbow colours into their wedding day to show solidarity with gay friends and family members. After all, the key symbolism behind the rainbow flag is diversity. There are eight colours and once you realise what each one represents you can see why the flag is so popular.

The eight-colours represent the following: pink stands for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. The rainbow colours are more commonly used as a flag or bunting. But a more stylish way of incorporating them into a wedding is to have a layered wedding cake with each layer representing a colour. This looks amazing when stacked together. A flower bouquet is another way of blending the colours. Balloons are a simple and inexpensive way; or how about specially designed rainbow shoes? Bridesmaids’ dresses, groomsmen’s shoes and waistcoats: there are multiple ways to use rainbow colours, plus they make a lovely combination of colour that is ideal for a summer wedding.
