This Friday, July 20, is the final day for booking a ticket for the Papal visit to Knock Shrine on Sunday, August 26. Buses will depart at 4 a.m. from Kiskeam Churchyard stopping off in Boherbue at 4.15 a.m. Young people are most welcome to attend with under-18s having to be accompanie­d by an adult. Inadverted­ly omitted from last week’s report on the coffee morning hosted by volunteer Maria McSweeney in aid of an orphanage in Tanzania was the amount collected which totalled €1,288, all of which goes to the children. Also, the McSweeney family wish to say thank you to kind neighbour Sheila O’Sullivan, who assumed the role of chief cook and bottlewash­er at the event. Well done, all.

TIDY TOWNS

Once again thanks and congratula­tions have to be extended to the local Tidy Towns Committee under the chairmansh­ip of Michael Cronin on the way they have made the village and surrounds so colourful and attractive. This group have over the years been doing tremendous work with little gratitude. However, they have battled on regardless and deserve to be compliment­ed on their work.
