First half goals key to Rockchapel win against Dromtariffe
Rockchapel 2-14 Dromtariffe 0-8
A FIRST half flourish sowed the seeds for Rockchapel to better Dromtariffe on a deserved victory in the Duhallow JBFC. The winners work ethic helped dominate the possession stakes, boosted by a pair of goals in the opening spell.
Even when Dromtariffe came at their opponents at different spells, Rockchapel were always able to negotiate scores to stay a safe distance ahead. Rockchapel warmed to their task from an early stage, sourcing plenty of energy from the play of Daniel Keating, Maurice Stack, James Forrest and Ronan O’ Sullivan.
With Michéal Geaney in fine shooting form, a number of slick raids gained reward and goals to Martin Murphy and James Forrest helped secure a 2-6 to 0-4 interval advantage. Dromtariffe attempted to rescue the situation on points to Shane McSweeney, Mark Lynes and Nicky McAulliffe.
However Dromtariffe were never going to make up the deficit without a goal and it allowed Rockchapel guard their lead to the finishing line.
