St. Johns pull away for decisive JBFC win over Boherbue

-

St. Johns 0-16 Boherbue 0-7

A PATIENT performance brought St. Johns their reward to overcome Boherbue in the Duhallow JBFC at Cullen. No disputing that the better team won, nothing separating the pair for most of the opening half only for St. John’s to thunder into the fray to record a worthy win.

For much of the opening 25 minutes, there was no obvious difference between the pair, Boherbue points to Mike O’Keeffe and Jimmy Herlihy were matched by Eoin and Eric Barrett for the sides to be deadlocked.

On the run in to the break, points to Eoin Barrett and Shane Kelleher helped St. John’s secure a 0-7 to 0-4 grip. From the restart, St. Johns picked up where they left off, availing of the solid play of Patrick Rohan, Kevin Sheehan, David Barrett, Donal Corkery and John O’Mahony to enjoy dominance.

Again the Barretts remained accurate as did O’Mahony to chip in with three points. Boherbue answered with points by Donal O’Connell and Simon Foley yet they lacked the balance of a sharper St. Johns combination.
