SAD TIMES IN CILL NA MARTRA

A sad chapter in Cill na Martra’s history has just opened with the departure of our Sagart Paróiste, an tAthair de Brún. He resigned earlier this month and he was replaced by an administrator from Macroom, leaving Cill na Martra parish without a resident priest. An tAthair de Brún steered a steady ship in our parish on his own over the last 15 years. He introduced the open air Mass in Reilig Dún dá Radharc, he set up the parish council, he introduced the candle ceremony on All Soul’s Day and he celebrated many Masses on Raidio na Gaeltachta. Hopefully all these innovations will continue as a tribute to him. He will be remembered as an accommodating, punctual priest, who always delivered an interesting solid homily, especially at funerals. Saol fada agus sonas duit in Átha Chóiste, a Athair.
