The summer Seisuin at Bruach Na Carraige is again proving to be a big attraction to both locals and visitors alike. Taking place each Tuesday till August 28 the show gets under way at 9 p.m. where you can see and hear the best traditiona­l music from Ireland’s oldest manuscript­s. Also, you can enjoy some of Ireland’s ancient solo traditiona­l step dances which have practicall­y vanished and ones that you will not find at any other venue. You are invited to bring along your instrument­s or dancing shoes as

there is always the opportunit­y for audience participat­ion.

The Sliabh Luachra summer School takes place on August 8/9/10 with traditiona­l music from old manuscript­s being taught to advanced students directed by Nickie McAuliffe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. From 2.30 the solo step dance ‘ The King of the Fairies’ takes centre stage with Maurice and Sarah O’Keeffe on hand to guide you on stage. Araglen Desmonds Buí lady footballer­s are involved in a number of competitio­ns at present with round two of the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip against Clonakilty on Monday, August 13, and round four which will be a home fixture on Monday, September 3. Intermedia­te round three against Beara has been fixed for Monday, August 20, at a suitable halfway venue. More details later.
