Duhallow artists find their place at eclectic festival

SEVEN LOCAL ARTISTS WILL FEATURE AT ÁIT EXHIBITION IN NEWMARKET

ALL roads will again lead to Newmarket as the ‘Áit’ art exhibition returns during Scullys Fest.

The exhibition will take place in Newmarket Motors’ upper showroom and will feature work from seven local artists. This year it features artists such as Claire O’Keeffe, who makes intricate 3D collages; Siobhán Burke, who uses ink and watercolou­r in her painting compositio­ns; Bríd Moynahan, a printmaker who uses the technique of etching to make her beautiful prints; Mary O’Connor, who uses paint to create her evocative landscapes; Ann Duane, a graphic artist who works in fine-detail with pen and ink; Boherbue native Joseph Heffernan, who explores a variety of themes through the medium of paint; and Linda Walker, who uses paint in an expressive manner to create her vibrant pieces of work.

The exhibition will be launched on Thursday, August 9, at 7pm. It is open daily thereafter from 12pm to 6pm for the duration of the fiveday festival.

Everyone is welcome to attend the launch, and refreshmen­ts will be provided.

It will then be followed by a session featuring Scully’s musicians in Scanlon’s bar.

Anyone attending will have the opportunit­y to enter a rafflof original artworks.
